REALLY???? I’m single and unattached - Miss Ghana 2013

I’m single and unattached - Miss Ghana 2013For her beauty and charm, one would think that the current Miss Ghana, Guissepina Nana Akua Baafi would be spoilt for choice for men but no, the 22-year-old beauty queen says she is ‘gnashing’.

She told Showbiz last Friday that most people who get to hear of her “single” status doubt her because for them, her beauty should certainly attract many men to be at her beck and call and so she cannot be single.

“But that is the truth, I am very much single and unattached and it’s really surprising because I have not had a boyfriend in a long while and I don’t know what the problem is” she said amidst laughter but was quick to add “It is good for now because that will get me more focused on my education”.

Before she was crowned Miss Ghana, Guissepena was pursuing a Part Two Chartered Accounting course at the Institute of Charted Accountants.

Guissepina who had not participated in any beauty pageant till this year’s Miss Ghana described her victory as “unbelievable and awesome” remarking “I just feel like a star now because of the attention I am getting.

“I had my crown by my bed side for a whole week and would wake up at dawn to look at it but now, I think the reality has dawned on me and I am bracing myself for the responsibilities of Miss Ghana”.

Miss Baafi said she has already hit the ground running with her official projects on Infant Mortality which was started by her predecessor, Naa Okailey Shooter along with her own projects on Buruli Cancer and Elephantiasis. “I have taken over and hope to continue from where Naa stopped”.

She said that at the end of her reign, she wants to be remembered not just as a beauty queen, but one who worked to make her reign meaningful to the society.

“I want to be remembered for my work and projects which will benefit the society. I don’t want to be remembered as just as a beauty queen but one whose reign was a blessing to people because she worked hard to impact the lives of people positively”.

She said that it was in line with such a passion that she has defered her Chartered Accounting course for a year. “It is different being tasked to undertake a project and having the desire. The difference is that, I have the passion to help the underprivileged and that is why I need to work hard to bring my dream into reality.

She stated that beauty pageants should not be seen as waste of resources as has been the public perception but another avenue to which individuals and organisations can contribute their quota to the country’s development.

“I realised that the organisers do not only look out for beauty but brains. Miss Ghana seeks to train, groom and mentor young and intelligent ladies for the future.

Born to Madam Regina Baafi in Italy, Giuseppina is a product of New Juabeng Senior High School in Koforidua.

She hails from Koforidua Efiduase in the Eastern Region and is a member of International Central Gospel Church (ICGC).

SPECIAL EDITION: PRAY OVER YOUR MARRIAGE and another love story

Dear readers,  Words are powerful. I have learnt to let most of the things I say be positive and contain a prayer. Praying God's word over your marriage is important.  Marriage is a blessing from God, but it is not always cherished the way it should be; Maybe because life gets busy, or we get distracted; Maybe because we start to take one another for granted; Or we disagree and let resentments hang on longer than they should. Hm! I was taught recently that the baggages we bring along from our past, into our marriages are a great burden as well. We take these baggages for granted but believe you me, most old baggages, are the cause of most broken marriages.  Some baggages are in the form of old girlfriends and boyfriends who are witches and wizards, or left some kind of spiritual bonding with your spouse. Some are in the form of just clingy exes. Some baggages may even just be low self esteem or extreme high expectations. When joined as ''one'', a new battle to...

THE NAKED MARRIAGE

Welcome dear Readers, You must be thinking that I want to talk about sex today. But hey, we will be talking about that plus a lot more. True intimacy requires what happens in the bedroom plus a lot more. In the beginning, God created Adam and Eve, the first couple. They lived in an ideal world; no debt, no no crazy in laws, no baggage, no stress, no fighting and and also, NO CLOTHING! (Gen 2:25) When God reveals unto us a naked marriage, He is revealing to us something more than just walking around the house with no clothes on or just sex. He is revealing the importance of TRANSPARENCY, VULNERABILITY,ACCEPTANCE and INTIMACY at every level of the relationship. I am suggesting we become more intentional about working on our relationships this way. Love is honest. Love is trust. You open yourself to temptations when you decide not to live in a naked marriage. These temptations have led many down the path of doom. My husband used to believe trust in a marriage is a sacrifice.
