How Obesity Affects Fertility 2
To achieve and maintain a healthy weight, focus on long-term changes in lifestyle, diet and activity.
Follow
these steps to a healthier you:
1.
Schedule an annual exam to monitor blood pressure, and screen for high
cholesterol and diabetes.
2.
Reduce the following simple carbohydrates in your diet: sugary drinks (sweet
tea, soda, and fruit juice), potatoes, pasta, white breads, and desserts.
3.
Incorporate complex carbohydrates into your diet like whole wheat pasta, wheat
bread, brown rice.
4.
Get moving! Incorporate at least 30 minutes of physical activity into your
routine 3-5 times per week. And look for opportunities throughout your day to
be more active, like taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
5.
Focus on achieving a healthy weight before you try to get pregnant. You will
have less risk of pregnancy complications and will have an easier delivery and
recovery after the baby is born.
